About me..

I am trying my hardest to become a recognized name in the world of poetry.  Emeritus Poet Laureate of Hillsborough, 2022 ArtPrize Contemporary Black Artist Award recipient, Coast 2 Coast Live mixtape winner, four time published author, host, and most importantly a father. As an artist, I embrace the community and specialize in poetic social critique, introspection, and depth. I use personal narratives to discuss the politics of race, class, gender and religion.  While simultaneously pinpointing and reinforcing the interconnected nature of human existence through poetry. In short, I am a poet!

More about me..

I am a spoken word artist who is dedicated to continuing the tradition of poetry in living form. Founded in a belief that creation and expression is one of the most valuable attributes gifted to humanity. I like to use writing to examine the spectrum of the human condition from a holistic point of view. Ambitious in my craft and presentation, I offer audiences unforgettable performances that evoke thought, introspection, and connection as a community.

I was appointed the Hillsborough Poet Laureate for 2016-2018.   For the last 12 years, I have helped create platforms for poets to share their in cities such as Grand Rapids, Durham, Chapel Hill, Hillsborough, and many other places.   I have also placed amongst the top artist in North Carolina at the Coast to Coast Live artist showcase that was held in Greensboro, NC in May of 2016. I have been fortunate enough to be acknowledged in the News of Orange, Chapel Hill Magazine, Princeton University, NC State University, George Washington University, Blue Cross Blue Shield, RedBull, and many grade schools throughout the US.

I have also presented my work in a Michigan Art Contest, ArtPrize, where I was awarded the Black Contemporary Artist award. My most recent publications are Broken Perception, Falling Apples, Lost Poems, and Searching for The Write Words: A Haiku Collection. Through the pandemic I have expanded my talent by typing poems for passerbyers on demand on my 1967 typewriter. This exchange inspired me to continue to purchase and repair old typewriters, now he has over 36 working machines that I use to teach writing at schools and my local farmers market. I have typed over 20000 poems in the past year and half, sharing my work at Book Festivals, Colleges, Coffee Shops, Weddings, and everywhere I am welcomed.

A father of three amazing children. My goal is to build for their foundation, each poetry opportunity sets ground work for their life to be better than the day before. My kids are also visionaries and artist, my stride is to set a standard for them to one day stand on their own.
